Fraud detection techniques

Friday, April 29th, 2011

I have many websites, but the websites with the most traffic  are  my work at home websites (http://pcworkathome.in  and http://pcworkathome.net ).  The websites are not well designed,  but visitors like them , because work at home scams are fairly common, and I try my best to ensure that the work at home jobs are genuine.  However,  it appears that the financial and internet systems are being exploited by tricksters,  who manipulate data to serve their own purpose.

Most offline companies have a quality assurance department to keep a check on the other departments, but in India, especially in the internet, scammers can create havoc. If  I have a website or domain someone else wants,  he or she is able to spread false rumours about  me and get away with it .  E-commerce is based on trust,  and  till there is no redressal mechanism, the fraudsters will continue to flourish.

Interesting article on bank fraud

The higher incidence of employee misuse of information at banks could be due to the fact that bank employees simply have access to more sensitive and valuable information. While financial firms are fortified by better security than most other types of companies, these systems are designed for the express purpose of keeping bad guys out, not necessarily watching for the threat from within.

If  the bank employee has a tie up with  unsavory characters, it can be a problem.
